Light designer and stage manager
Vic was born in Nebraska and worked as an actor and singer from the early 80’s. He is a trained teacher, and in addition to teaching has been responsible for producing and directing musicals and plays at the two high schools he worked at. In 1991, he moved to Los Angeles and worked as a lighting designer for the Attic Theater in Santa Monica. In 1992, he was hired as head of entertainment for The United States Army Entertainment Program, where he ran two of the German programs located in Giessen and Heidelberg. The programs produced at least seven main stage productions a year, most often a mix of plays, comedies and musicals. In 1995 he also contributed to the establishment of two large, annual events: The One Act Festival and The Tournament of Plays, which he still co-produces. Phillipson moved to Norway in 2000, but continued to work as the technical director of the US Army Entertainment Program. This means that he designs, purchases, and installs light and sound systems in large parts of Europe. In addition, he has worked professionally at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Dunkalk Theater Festival and The Dublin Fringe Festival.
For Kanon Produksjon, Vic has been the stage master at THE TERRORISTS, been lighting technician at THE DUMB WAITER and SHRIEK OF A BIRD…, done lighting design for BOUND and KISSED, and both lighting and sound design for VORBEREITET and lighting design for THE LUCKY SHIP.
