Norwegian premiere and a new international collaboration

In September, we have the great pleasure of presenting a Norwegian premiere: DOG/ACTOR. The show consists of two short, explosive, and comedic plays written by Steven Berkoff. The production is produced by the English theatre company Threedumb Theatre, led by Stephen Smith, and had its world premiere at Pump House Theatre in Watford in 2018. The hope is that this is just the beginning of a long and fruitful international collaboration with several exciting projects, both in Norway and in England.

As part of this summer’s voyage, Kanon Produksjon, in collaboration with D/S Hestmanden – Norwegian War Sailor Museum, will be able to offer performances in Kristiansand, Langesund, Horten, Moss, Oslo, Risør, Sandefjord and Mandal, and tickets are avaliable from April 3rd.

FINALLY, KISSED will get to meet the youth of Norway! This week, the performance is back in Kristiansand to meet over 400 students from 9th grade, through The Cultural Schoolbag. We’re very much looking forward to it, and hope for many nice meetings and moments with the students in the south!

A journey back in time…

Next week we’ll be back on board S/S Hestmanden, and this time we’ll take secondary school student along with us on a journey back in time. 450 students from the 9th grade will get to experience THE LUCKY SHIP, our depiction of life on board, and the true story of Hestmanden in its most dramatic period from the Second World War.

Yesterday, Friday 09 September, we were finally able to show the public our war sailor story “The lucky ship”. The premiere went beyond all expectations, and with good reactions and feedback from the audience, we are now looking forward to a further five performances.

Sea legs on land

After a long and thorough pre-production, we’ve finally started rehearsals for “THE LUCKY SHIP”. We’re working at Slåtta Scene, on director Åsmund-Brede Eike’s farm in Lunde in Telemark. During the weeks at Slåtta Scene, we will set the stage-direction so everything is ready for technical rehearsals and adaptation to the room when we finally go aboard the ship S/S Hestmanden, just a few days before the premiere.

Together on stage again

This autumn, Kanon Produksjon is ready with yet another play for Kristiansand and surrounding areas! The company’s ninth production, “The Lucky Ship” is written by Jon Erik Myre and André Lassemo, and deals with two war sailors during World War II. The play has been under development for the past two years, in collaboration with the Norwegian War Sailor Museum at the Vest-Agder Museum. The script-work has been supported by Agder County Municipality, Fritt Ord, Bjørneboet at Cultiva and Scenekunst Sør.
